very striking, especially the contrast between the near-perfect symmetry of the bottom third of the photo and the almost vertiginous imbalance of the upper two-thirds. scrolling down the photo (as i'm obliged to do because of its disproportionate length), my uneasiness gives way to a sensation of stability. this modulation is an apt reflection of how we often experience an urban landscape, as alternately intimidating and comforting: free of the primordial fear of the forest, yet daunting in its angularity and sheer artifice.
